OUR IMPACT

Serving A Community In Need

Vineland Community Kitchen’s programs address persistent food-access pressure in a county where poverty, homelessness, and food insecurity overlap. As economic challenges continue to impact local families, seniors, and individuals, access to reliable, nutritious food remains an essential part of strengthening the community. For many of our guests, a meal is only the beginning; it is a pathway to stability, health, and additional support.

Our COmMUNITY

SERVING THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST.

Homelessness remains a growing concern as well. Cumberland County is home to an average of 236 individuals experiencing homelessness each night, with many living with disabilities or without a source of income.

In addition to individuals experiencing homelessness, Vineland Community Kitchen serves seniors, working families, and residents who face ongoing food access challenges, including uninsured individuals and Medicaid recipients in the immediate area.

Barriers Beyond Hunger

Understanding The Local Need

Nearly 14% of Vineland residents live below the poverty line, compared to 14.2% in Cumberland County, both notably higher than New Jersey’s statewide rate of 9.2%. In the neighborhoods surrounding Vineland Community Kitchen, the challenges are even greater. More than 35% of households rely on SNAP benefits, 33% are burdened by housing costs, 17% lack access to a vehicle, and 35% of residents have limited English proficiency. Many also face chronic health conditions, including obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure, making access to nutritious food even more critical.
